I think overall everyone dreams of going to Greece, especially Santorini. Santorini has been listed as that honeymoon spot. Then you have Mykonos, which is one of the party capitals of the world. Greece has so much for to offer then these two little islands. Greece is full of history and the most beautiful views I have ever seen.

I originally knew that I needed to go to Greece when I took a greek mythology in university. Since then I loved all the stories that have been told from generation to generation. I have always loved how down to earth and in tune the Greek culture is. During a night shift (classic time for me to buy things) I was researching where I was going to go on my yearly trip. I looked up what to do on the mainlands and which islands interested me the most. After maybe a few hours I booked the trip. Im telling you, night shifts are the best/ worse time to buy anything.

Like any trip that I do I make a "must do" list. I like to keep this list short and sweet. It usually contains the most popular main attractions. A few things that I looked into were the Acropolis, and the first olympic stadium. I had really wanted to go and climb Mount Olympus, however you had to go with a tour group, it took minimum 4 days, and it didn't really work with my time line very well. I like to travel in "off season" everything tends to be a little bit cheaper, and the crowds aren't as crazy.

On arrival in Greece I spent the first few days getting lost around Athens. I explored the Acropolis, Zeus's Temple, the Olympic Stadium, which was incredible, and overall drank a lot of wine and ouzo at every cute little cafe and bar I saw. I definitely got lost a few times, this is my favourite part of travel, getting lost. I met some amazing people at the hostel I stayed at which happened to be right downtown. This hostel, Safestay Athens, also had a rooftop bar with a great view, over looking the city. Athens is a very large city, and you have be careful, be aware of your surrounding and don't get distracted and loose track of your belongings. Trust me, been there have almost lost things.

From Athens I took a ferry to Mykonos. Yes, where you party till the wee hours. I honestly just went here to live the party life. Bars don't even open here until like 2300hrs. Let's just say before you go out make sure you know your way home. Back story, when Mykonos was built the streets and path ways were build the exact same and build pretty much in a maze. This was done purposefully so the Greeks could easily attack intruders because they would get lost. Okay, now after parting all night, dancing on bar tops, sharing sweat with strangers, don't kid yourself, besides the outside temp being hotter then hot the inside of bar was a sweat splash zone. Imagine walking back to the hotel, in a maze, under the influence, sorry mom. I was with other people and luckily I had cell service and managed to find the way to the centre to take a taxi. This island was beautiful, the beaches were incredible. Every single building was instagram worthy.

After an early hungover morning another ferry took me to the island of Paros. A very underestimated island. every island had the most beautiful white cities, on this island is bright pink flowers growing along every building. On this particular island there was one beach in particular I wanted to visit. This beach is called Kolymbithres, is famous because it has these huge blocks of granite surrounding it. To get around this island I rented a quad with a few mates that I had met. I had drove for part of the island then the girl I was sharing with wanted to give it a go. Well I maybe shouldn't have let the city girl drive. I don't think she really knew what she was doing. Needless to say we got in a quad accident and frankly are lucky to be alive. We were so close to a cliff, I'm surprised we didn't roll off of it. I happened to be wearing my goPro and caught the whole thing on video. Feel free to check out the video on my instagram. After the accident I was in so much pain and had some solid bruises and with little pain medications I decided to go for a few drinks!

My final island of this tour was the famous island of Santorini! Santorini is famous for its sunsets. People all over the world travel here just for a sunset, I still believe the sunsets back home are incredible. But I never miss out on a good sunset. while approaching the island of Santorini it looks like snow on top on an island, it was so sunning. While on the island I stayed in the city of Fira, the capital. This is probably where I shopped the most, explored a volcano island that is a short boat ride away. Went swimming in mud baths, its good for your skin apparently. I drank plenty of Ouzo, the shot that you take with all meals, danced and partied. My last night I made the track to the town of Oia, where the famous sunsets are. Okay Im not going to lie it was beautiful, but crowded and I was there on off season. Oh, did I mention I had a concussion from my accident while touring Santorini. I didn't realize it was a concussion till a few days later because I thought I was just hungover. Guys, I should have known but I think I was caught up in the travel hype and chose to ignore it.

After a great last night in Greece spending it with new friends I caught an eight hour ferry home. Travelling is one of my most favourite hobbies. Greece, I will be back to explore more of your beauty.
