Everyone is entitled to their own favourite season. You may have favourites for different reasons .I do like all the seasons for different reasons. Now, I don't like to play favourites, but lets get real its fall. Yes, yes, I know so basic of me. Hear me out. It is the perfect weather!! No really, it is not too hot that you are sweating as you walk around. It's also not that cold that you have to bundle right up. Plus nothing is better then that fresh crisp air!!

Here in Saskatchewan we are luckily enough to have all four seasons. I honestly think this is the first year in recent years that we have had a nice fall, the weather has been decent and the leaves have stayed on the trees for much longer.

Growing up on a farm meant that fall was always a busy time, a family time. Fall on the farm meant harvest. I won't get too much into harvest because I will probably write a small post about that one later.

Remember that garden I planted in spring? Well now is the time to harvest the veggies, eat and can what I can, and share the rest. Most of the veggies I eat fresh. Every year for the past few years my mom, sister and I will get together to make salsa, and pasta sauce. If you remember from my garden post we make the best salsa! Making this will usually last us the year! My mom is a canning wizard and will do all sorts of fruit, make jam, and all the veggies as well. I am not this talented, and nor do I have the storage room for all the canned goods.

Besides doing all the responsible stuff like making salsa, bringing in the the harvest at the farm, and doing a big fall cleaning I LOVE to do all the basic things! These fall basics include: pumpkin picking and carving/ finding a corn maze, making a pumpkin pie, oh and drinking a PSL. I know these are basic, but who cares do what you love! I find these are simple and not too time consuming. Lets not forget Thanksgiving, these are such great activities to you with your family. Or it is a great excuse to get away from family and get out with your friends.

This fall I have managed to already go pumpkin picking and I am really looking forward to spend time on the farm in equipment and then coming home and carving pumpkins and making pie with my niece, and most likely with a glass of wine. What are some of your favourite fall activities?

Thank you to Black Fox Distillery in Saskatoon for opening up your beautiful pumpkin patch to the community and making it safe for everyone!

I hope all you basic people have a great fall:)
